Our Star Garden cottages are natural wooden toys ideal for small world play, developing fine motor skills, seasonal tables, and imaginary scenes.
The designs reflect the Winter and Summer Solstice - a celebration of the turning of the wheel and the rebirth of the sun. Being guided by the moon and stars, the Earth begins her long, slow turn back towards the light. A beautiful reminder to bring warmth and light into our hearts.
They are a delightful educational tool for young children and are ideal for use in Waldorf and Montessori play settings. They symbolise the changing seasons and embracing a calm, serene environment.
Product Description
Our whimsical Star Garden cottages allow children to re-enact their favourite fairy tales and are wonderful for small world play. Key features include:
- Handcrafted locally by an Australian woodworker, and hand-painted by me.

The organic shape of these wooden blocks allows children to play three dimensionally - setting the scene for some amazing creative play.
They form a puzzle in simple formation - with a cute wooden door slotting perfectly into the larger cottage piece.

There are 3 hand-painted designs available (one enchanted dragon theme, one pastel fairytale theme, and one earthy native theme). One side displays the magical outdoor environment, while the reverse side is a cosy indoor scene (pastel fireplace, and earthy kitchen).

Each of our Star Garden cottages are made from wood and stand approximately 15cm high, 18cm wide (at base), and 3cm deep.

They come within a handmade cotton drawstring bag for safe keeping.
Materials used - FSC certified Pine, high quality acrylic paints and sealer. Each piece is unique with a lot of love, passion and time. Due to the nature of handmade products, please allow for variations in size, shape and colour.
A beautiful addition to your small world play collection, these magical cottages are found in the forests inhabited by our Mini Folk, Mystical Creatures, and other Fairies. They also pair beautifully with many of the items from our Spellbound Collection.

Symbology
Winter is a wonderful time of year to retreat inwards and reflect on the wonders of nature. A gentle reminder to slow down and reconnect with the universe.
In honour of this magical time of year, I wanted to mention a little Yuletide Tradition that can also be celebrated in the Southern Hemisphere.
The first task is to choose a special Yule log to burn on a fireplace hearth. The log should come from the root of a hardwood tree - like Tasmanian Oak, Mallee Roots or Eucalyptus.
As the burning wood dries out, the remains are kept and used to start next year's yule log burning. Year after year, the tradition continues ~ generation after generation.
